Deborah received a B.A. in psychology from Marymount Manhattan College and an M.S. in Education from SUNY, Queens College. She worked in New York City at Edward R. Murrow High School and in Massachusetts at Bedford High School. As a special education teacher, she taught active study skills. She also taught and co-taught English, history, math, and science. For many years, Deborah has worked to help students with their college essays, and her students have been admitted to Northeastern, Clark, Emory, and other colleges. Some have received handwritten responses on their college acceptance letters. She has also taught workshops for teachers. Deborah has worked as a ski instructor at Mount Snow.
Johanna earned a B.S. from Salem State College in Communications and an M.A. from Boston College in Developmental and Educational Psychology. She currently works at Dover-Sherborn Middle and High School with ELL students, and she has worked with students ranging from kindergarteners to adults in the Framingham Public Schools. For over a decade, she has helped students write college admissions essays.
Quintana earned a B.S. in Psychology from Arizona State University and an M.A. in Psychology from Boston University. She has worked as a Teaching Assistant at Boston University and has tutored students in grades 2-12 for a decade in different subjects, including AP classes. She has also tutored students in the ISEE, SAT, and ACT and has worked to design and deliver ABA services.
Orelie received a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College and a M.Ed. in Moderate Disabilities at Merrimack College. She has worked as a Special Education middle school teacher at Vassal Lane Upper School in Cambridge, Mass. and at Pioneer Charter School of Science in Saugus. She has also worked as an ABA therapist at Nashoba Learning Group in Bedford, Mass. She is fluent in Haitian Creole.
With over seven years of experience teaching and tutoring, Jorge works with students primarily on test preparation, mathematics, and writing. A life-long learner, Jorge holds advanced degrees in law (Notre Dame '23), economics (Boston University '18) and education (UCLA '11). He has professional and personal experience in working with exceptional learners who struggle with attention and executive functioning. A first-generation immigrant, Jorge values exploring, connecting, and building relationships with people from all backgrounds.
Lynn earned a B.S. from Wheelock in Human Development and an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. In addition, she holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in reading. She has taught special education students, including students on the autism spectrum, at several schools in California and Massachusetts. Most recently, she has worked as a special education teacher in the Sudbury Public Schools. Lynn is trained in both Orton-Gillingham and Wilson reading methods.
Lauren earned a B.S. in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University, and two master’s degrees—one in Special Education from Lesley and one in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston. She has worked as a reading specialist at Commonwealth Learning Center and in the Billerica public schools. Lauren is Orton-Gillingham/Wilson Certified from the Reading Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
Matt has an M. Ed. in special education from Fitchburg State and a B.S. in communications from Springfield College. He has worked for many years in the Lowell public schools as a special education teacher in a therapeutic school that caters to children with social and emotional issues, ADHD, and executive functioning issues. He has also tutored students in grades K-12 in all content areas. In addition to teaching, he works as a football coach.
John is a tutor with over 10 years’ experience working with students from 4th grade through 12th grade in a wide range of subjects. He is adept at helping students who have learning differences including ADHD, autism, executive functioning issues, dyslexia, and dyscalculia, and he designs strategies to help them reach their potential while encouraging them to persevere and believe in themselves.
In terms of subject areas, John's passion is math, from times tables through calculus, and he loves explaining concepts, helping kids structure their problem-solving process, and building their self-confidence. He is being trained at Dyscalculia Services in proven approaches for students with math disorders.
He also enjoys tutoring in physics and chemistry. John has been a writer and editor for several art-related publications, and he is glad to help students with writing — including college essays — and research. For standardized test prep , he works on the SAT, ACT, and ISEE. His students have attended independent and public schools in the Boston and New York City areas.
John earned his B.A. from Princeton and his M.A. from Harvard, both in Middle Eastern languages and history. In his spare time, he likes to play and compose music on the piano (with an emphasis on ragtime), take photographs, and explore used bookstores.
Kai Lin has earned a B.S. in Psychology from University of Rochester and will earn her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Loyola University, Maryland, in 2021. She has worked to tutor students at Brooklyn Learning Center, and she formerly worked at NYU’s Child Study Center. In addition, she has worked as a counselor at NYU and the New School and in the labs of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Psychiatry Unit.
Andrea earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Kean University. In addition, she has over 75 hours of training in Orton-Gillingham from the Institute of Multi-sensory Training. She taught for several years in the public school system in Plainfield, New Jersey.
Elizabeth earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Long Island University and an M.S. in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education. She has worked as a Head Teacher at Bank Street Head Start program and as an advisor at Bank Street College. In addition, she has taught in schools in New York City, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh and has received intensive training in Orton-Gillingham techniques. Elizabeth has taught yoga to children and has been trained in techniques to manage anxiety.
Noelle earned a B.S. from Towson University in Maryland, an M.F.A. in Staging Shakespeare from the University of Exeter (U.K.), and an M.A.T. in Special Education from Relay Graduate School of Education in New York City. She has taught middle school math, Algebra, Living Environment, and English at New York City public schools, and she has also worked as a Manager at Hudson Shakespeare Company and as an executive function tutor at Beyond Booksmart.
Luis earned his B.S. in Criminology from SUNY at Old Westbury, and an M.S. in Criminal Justice from C.W. Post Long Island University. He is currently in a Ph.D. program in Social Work at Yeshiva University in New York City. Luis has worked as a tutor at the Grand Street Settlement and at the South Bronx Economic Development Alliance Corporation, where he helped students in math, winning an award for helping students to pass their exams. In addition, he has taught math at the evening program at the City University of New York (CUNY).
Marion earned a B.A. in French from Barnard College, an M.A. in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an Ed.M. in Learning Disabilities and Reading Remediation from Teachers College, Columbia. She formerly worked as a writing instructor at Marymount College and a Remedial Reading Consultant at the State College of Optometry, Learning Disabilities Unit. She has also worked as a Learning Disabilities Specialist at Marymount Manhattan College.
Theron earned a B.A. in American Studies from Tufts and a Master’s in Education from Lesley University. He has worked as a teacher and tutor for students in grades K-12 for many years, including at the Police Athletic League. In addition, he has worked as an executive function tutor. He currently works as a teacher at an international school with Mandarin, Spanish, and French bilingual education.
Ashley earned a B.S. in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon and a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has worked for many years as a tutor for academic subjects, as well as for the ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and Regents exams, among other tests. She has also worked as a school counseling intern and a mental health intern.
Mansi earned a B.A. in mathematics with honors from the University of Delhi in India and then earned an M.Sc. in Statistics from University College, London. She has worked as a math teacher at Lawrenceville Summer Scholars, a program based at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. She currently works as a middle school math teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart School in Manhattan, where she provides differentiated instruction and seeks to incorporate visuals into her teaching.
